Rail Critters Support
Here are the most common questions. If yours isn't here, write to us at soporte@lopandsolutions.com and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. We reply in English too, even though the game is in Spanish.
Your progress
I lost my progress. Can you get it back?
If you turned on the backup (on Android: Help › Backup), yes: install the game, go to Help › Backup, tap Recover with a code and type the 12-character code the game gave you. (The game's buttons are in Spanish: Ayuda › Respaldo › Recuperar.)
If you didn't, we're really sorry, but no: your progress (high score, coins, characters, outfits, missions) was saved only on your phone and we don't have a copy to give back to you. It's lost if you uninstall the game, clear its data or switch phones.
What does stay are your Google Play Games achievements and scores, because they live in your Google account. Sign in again and you'll see them.
I'm getting a new phone. Can I take my coins with me?
Yes, on Android: on the old phone go to Help › Backup (Ayuda › Respaldo), tap Turn on backup and write down the code. On the new one, install the game and in Help › Backup tap Recover with a code. Your Google Play Games achievements and scores also come with you if you use the same Google account.
How do I delete my data?
If you turned on the backup, start there: in Help › Backup tap Delete backup (Borrar respaldo). If you no longer have the phone, write to soporte@lopandsolutions.com with your code and we'll delete it. What you bought stays as the record of the sale (privacy notice, section 7).
Then, either of these two options deletes everything the game saved on your phone:
- Uninstall Rail Critters.
- Or go to Settings › Apps › Rail Critters › Storage and tap Clear data (the exact wording varies a bit by phone brand).
That deletes the progress on your phone. The technical crash and usage data the game sends carries neither your name nor your account and is deleted automatically (usage data after 2 months, crash data after 90 days); if you want us to look for it sooner, write to us. Your Google Play Games data (achievements, scores, player name) is managed by Google; you delete it from the Google Play Games app, in your profile settings. The details are in the privacy notice.
Achievements and leaderboards
I earned an achievement and it doesn't show up in Google Play Games
Check these three things, in this order:
- That you're signed in to Google Play Games. Without signing in, the game works the same and saves your achievements on your phone, but it doesn't send them to Google.
- That you're online when you open the game. Every time the game starts while you're signed in, it re-sends the achievements you've already earned. If you earned them offline, they show up the next time you open it with a connection.
- That it's the same Google account you're viewing the achievements with.
If they still don't show up, write to us with the achievement's name and we'll look into it.
Do I have to sign in to Google Play Games?
No. It's optional. Without signing in you can play everything, buy everything with in-game coins and earn the achievements; you just won't appear on the leaderboards.
How does the daily challenge leaderboard work?
Every day at midnight (your phone's time) there's a new track that's the same for everyone. The daily challenge leaderboard keeps your best score on that track.
What notifications does the game send, and how do I turn them off?
Only if you said yes (in the question after your first run or in Options). There are two kinds: reminders about your daily reward and the daily challenge (at most one a day, in the afternoon; your phone schedules them) and occasional news about the game. Each one can be turned off separately in Options or in Settings › Apps › Rail Critters › Notifications. The details are in the privacy notice.
Phones and purchases
Which phones does it work on?
On phones and tablets with Android 7.0 or newer and Google Play. You don't need a powerful phone: the game slows down its clock if the phone stutters, so a frame drop won't make you crash.
There is no iPhone or computer version for now.
Do I need the internet to play?
No. Google Play Games (optional), the store if you buy something, the news if you turned them on and the technical crash and usage data, which waits until there is a connection, use the internet.
Does it have ads or real-money purchases?
Ads, no. Purchases, only optional ones: the axolotl and the luchador suit (exclusives that only change how you look), a tip for the studio and a bundle with all three. Everything else is bought with the coins you collect while running, and coins are never sold: if someone offers them to you for money, it isn't us. New phone? Tap "Restore purchases" in the game's shop.
The game is slow or the sound is off
Close your other open apps and reopen the game. If nothing changes, write to us with your phone's brand and model: it really helps us find the problem.
Didn't find your answer?
Write to us at soporte@lopandsolutions.com and, if you can, include:
- Your phone's brand and model, and its Android version.
- The game version (you can see it on Google Play, under "About this game").
- What you were doing when it happened and, if possible, a screenshot.
Don't send us passwords or your Google account details: we will never ask for them.
